Amsterdam, September 25, 2025 – Why we at Peak are partnering with revel8, the next-generation AI-native, deepfake-first cybersecurity platform
At Peak, we back founders building the next generation of category leaders. In cybersecurity, the opportunity and urgency have never been greater. With AI supercharging attackers, threats are multiplying faster than your inbox on a Monday morning. Traditional defenses? About as effective as a “password123” sticky note.
That’s why we’re thrilled to lead revel8’s €5.7M seed round, alongside Fortino, Merantix, and an exceptional group of angels including Mario Götze, Sergej Epp (CISO, Sysdig), Michael Schrank (CISO, Adidas), Rogier Fischer (Co-founder & CEO, Hadrian), and Alexander Rinke (CEO, Celonis).
revel8 is pioneering AI-native, deepfake-first cybersecurity for human risk management, with the vision to build Europe’s category leader in this fast-emerging space.
“Attackers Move in Hours. Defenders Train in Months.”
Cybersecurity has always been a race between attackers and defenders. But with the arrival of generative AI, the race has changed dramatically. What once took attackers weeks of preparation can now be done in minutes. A convincing voice clone, a realistic deepfake video, or a perfectly tailored phishing email can be generated instantly, creating personas virtually indistinguishable from trusted colleagues.
The scale of this new threat is staggering. Since ChatGPT’s launch, phishing attack volumes have surged by more than 4,000%. Last year, 87% of global organizations reported facing AI-powered incidents in some form. Across Europe, vishing cases rose more than 400% in 2024, showing how quickly attackers are exploiting new tools. And the financial consequences are already hitting home: in Hong Kong, a finance employee was tricked by a deepfake video call into wiring $25 million, while in the UK, Marks & Spencer reported losses exceeding £300 million from voice phishing scams.
These aren’t isolated incidents, they’re early tremors of a seismic shift in the threat landscape.
Meanwhile, most companies still rely on compliance videos to prevent incidents. Once a year. On a Tuesday. Right before lunch.
No wonder 95% of breaches are still caused by human error. As one CISO put it: “Attackers move in hours, defenders train in months.”
From Weakest Link to First Line of Defense
revel8 is built on a simple premise: if humans are the most targeted element in cybersecurity, they must also become the strongest defense.
The revel8 platform replicates modern attacker tactics from phishing and SMS spoofing to voice cloning and video deepfakes and delivers them as hyper-personalized, realistic, multi-channel simulations tailored to each employee. At its core is a deepfake-first simulation engine that replicates the latest impersonation tactics within hours of their emergence.
Instead of static, generic content, revel8 creates a highly personalized “playlist of attacks” for every employee, dynamically adapting to their role, behavior patterns, and performance history. This level of realism, powered by open-source intelligence gathering, makes training scenarios indistinguishable from real-world threats. When employees engage with simulated attacks, revel8 provides immediate, contextual feedback, turning every interaction into a teachable moment. Over time, this builds a culture of active defense.
By collecting signals across the organization, from reported emails to flagged interactions, it builds a live, evolving risk map that enables security teams to prioritize responses and get a tangible overview of their human risk factor. revel8 transforms human behavior into actionable intelligence.
This is just the beginning. With every interaction, revel8 strengthens its flywheel, automatically fine-tuning simulations at the individual level and reinforcing defenses where they’re needed most within the organization. Through continuous evals and proprietary data, the team is building a durable moat.
Built by Operators, for Operators
revel8 was founded by Julius Muth, Tom Müller, and Robert Seilbeck, three former Celonis colleagues who learned firsthand what it takes to build and scale enterprise software. Having worked closely together before, they bring mutual trust and complementary skills, functioning as a battle-tested team.
Julius combines operational excellence with commercial drive, having built and scaled Celonis’s Madrid office from the ground up. Robert, as former engineering lead at Celonis, managed a 40-person development team and gained deep experience scaling complex enterprise systems. Tom led value creation for major enterprise accounts, combining customer engagement expertise with sharp product vision.
What truly sets this team apart is their relentless customer-centricity. From day one, they’ve worked hand-in-hand with CISOs and security teams, understanding pain points in real time and rapidly translating feedback into product improvements. Their ability to listen, iterate, and ship fast is deeply embedded in revel8’s DNA.
Combined with proven enterprise sales expertise and deep technical capabilities, this makes the team uniquely positioned to build and scale a category-defining cybersecurity platform.
What’s Next
revel8‘s vision is both bold and achievable: to fortify 10 million human firewalls worldwide.
The market backdrop supports this growth. AI cybersecurity solutions are projected to grow at a 25% CAGR, reaching $46 billion by 2027, with human risk management among the fastest-growing segments.
With this new funding, the revel8 team will expand internationally, deepen enterprise integrations, and accelerate product development to stay ahead of evolving AI threats.
At Peak, We believe true resilience comes when technology and humans work hand in hand. And with revel8, those humans are finally getting an upgrade.
