Tessa Wanders joins Peak

Former FJ Labs investor and serial entrepreneur Tessa Wanders joins Peak as Investment Manager, supporting us in our growth to become a venture firm at European scale. Peak is expanding rapidly; besides opening up a German satellite office in Berlin to keep supporting our founders on a European level, we just announced our latest hire: Tessa Wanders joined the investment team.

Tessa started off her career as a marketplace investor at VC firm FJ Labs in New York. As their second hire, she built out the team and helped secure deals such as Roadrunner, Rappi and Raisin. After close to three years at FJ, she was intrigued by the other side of the table and left the world of venture to found a couple companies. First she co-founded a hospitality platform in Toronto (backed by Social Capital) and later she founded Hey Frida, a CPG company focused on food for diabetics from San Francisco (backed by Founders Fund, FJ Labs and others).

After 5 years in the US, Tessa decided it was a good time to come back home. Her investing experience and knowledge on marketplaces, combined with her entrepreneurial background made her a great fit for the Peak team. Johan van Mil, partner at Peak: “Being a founder is not for the fainthearted and we want our investment team members to have experienced this first-hand. Tessa also brings Silicon Valley energy and connections to the table, which will prove to be helpful for our founders expanding to the other side of the pond.”

In her role as Investment Manager she’ll add a new level of depth to our diligence process and support our founders and partners post-investment wherever she can. Tessa is excited about any and all marketplaces, for-profit edtech, the creator economy and female oriented start-ups/tech. She’s an avid kitesurfer and novice sourdough bread baker.
